New York City consists of five boroughs. Manhattan was the original New York City, but in 1898 it incorporated the City of Brooklyn along with The Bronx, Queens and Staten Island. Today’s New York City!
A Tour Designed With You In Mind
Your starting and ending location is usually at your hotel. However, we will gladly meet you at any local location you desire. Our tours are all about you and the boroughs of New York City!
Your Tour will begin by your driver/tour guide pointing out on a New York City map the geographical layout of the boroughs and the neighborhoods of New York City. And then we customize a tour specifically designed for you and your interests.
Sites & Neighborhoods
Brooklyn is located south east of Manhattan just across the East River. Here you can see: Brooklyn Heights – Fulton Ferry Landing – Brooklyn Bridge, Coney Island, Brighton Beach (a Russian neighborhood), the infamous Green-Wood Cemetery, Bay Ridge (Italian Neighborhood from ‘Saturday Night Fever’), Site where the Brooklyn Dodgers Ebbets Field was located, Atlantic Avenue, Williamsburg, Green Point, and Dumbo. We invite you to select which one of these sites you are most interested in seeing and we’ll customize your tour to meet your desires.
The Bronx is located northeast of Manhattan, across the Harlem River. It’s named after Jonas Bronck from the 1630’s. It is the only borough of New York City that is on the mainland. Here you can see: Yankee Stadium, Arthur Avenue (the ‘real’ Little Italy), New York Botanical Garden, Edgar Allen Poe’s House, the Grand Concourse, The Hall of Fame of Great Americans, Wave Hill (the former home of Teddy Roosevelt, and Mark Twain sitting on 28 acres of gardens), City Island (New England Fishing Village in New York City), Van Cortland Park and the Bronx Zoo.
Queens is located just east of Manhattan across the East River on Long Island. It received its name from the British who named it after the King’s Queen in the 1700’s. Here you can see: Astoria (Greek neighborhood), Citi Field (home of the NY Mets), Jazz History Museum – Home of Louis Armstrong, The 1964 New York World’s Fair Grounds, Flushing Meadows Park, The Museum of the Moving Image, the New York Hall of Science. We invite you to select which one of these sites you wish to see and visit. If you’d like us to select which sites we believe you’ll appreciate the most, we will arrange such a tour.
Staten Island is located south of Manhattan across New York harbor. Here you can see: Snug Harbor Cultural Center, Staten Island Zoo, Staten Island Yankee Ballpark, Fort Wadsworth, Richmond Town (like Williamsburg, original 17th Century New York City), and the Staten Island September 11 Memorial. If you wish, you could ride the Staten Island Ferry across the harbor! If you have a list of what you’d like to see on Staten Island, please let us know, as we are glad to accommodate your wishes.
Did you know Staten Island was named in honor of the governing body of the Netherlands, the States General?
Experience The City To The Fullest
Throughout your tour we may indicate on the map where we are so you fully understand where neighborhoods and places of interest are located in relation to your hotel. During your tour we’ll point out the contrast in architecture from neighborhood to neighborhood, which makes New York City so unique and interesting, as no two neighborhoods are alike. We’ll also recommend local restaurants within each neighborhood where you may consider dining while you’re visiting the city. We’re glad to make reservations for you, as well.
You request is welcome at any time for your touring vehicle to stop, so you could explore a site, store, market, deli, or just to stop and take photographs. We highly encourage bringing your camera, as there are so many photogenic buildings and sites throughout the City.
Guests find our guides enthusiastic, entertaining and extremely knowledgeable in their ability to explain New York culture, history and all the many wonders that make NYC the special place that it is! Foreign language tours can be arranged for you.
